Jo Bates – Nursery Manager
Jo has a BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood Studies and she also has Early Years Professional Status. She has over 10 years experience of managing settings in West Sussex and a true passion for working with children in the Early Years. Jo has been working at Windmill since July 2013, and she has a great vision for the Nursery with the children at the heart of every decision that is made.
Nikki works at Windmill as one of the Deputy Managers and she has been with us for 11 years. Nikki has a BA degree in Professional Studies in Learning and Development and Early Years Professional Status. Nikki said ‘I am fascinated at how children learn through their play and make sense of the world. It amazes me how quickly they pick up new skills and put them into practice.’ In her spare time she loves spending time with her friends and family.
Kim F works as another of Windmill’s Deputy Managers. She is NNEB qualified with 31 years experience in childcare, working in various settings as a nanny, a Pre-School Supervisor, a Creche Manager, a nursery Deputy Manager and a Nursery Manager. Kim has 3 children of her own and she said, ‘I enjoy working with Jo and the team to fulfil her vision of Windmill Day Nursery’.
Kim K has worked at Windmill for 5 years. She has a Level 3 in Early Year’s Care and Education. ‘I love the warm friendly atmosphere of Windmill and the close relationship I have with all the other staff.’ Kim has a four year old daughter who attends the nursery and Kim says ‘she has always loved coming to Windmill’.
Ellie has 4½ years experience in childcare and a Level 3 Diploma in the Children’s and Young Person’s Workforce. She said she enjoys working at Windmill because the staff are lovely and enthusiastic which makes the nursery feel warm and friendly. She added ‘All the children are really happy and settled and the staff know each child extremely well!’
Charlotte joined Windmill as an apprentice in 2014 and she gained a Level 2 Certificate for the Children’s and Young Persons Workforce. She now works in the baby room and is about to start her Level 3 qualification. She really enjoys being around children so she loves being in a nursery environment. Charlotte previously did some work experience at Windmill and she really enjoyed her time here, which is why she came back here to work!
Vicki initially worked with us through an agency but has now joined our team. She has over 30 years experience of working in childcare settings, both in nurseries and as a Nanny. She also worked for several years within Social care settings. Vicky often makes cakes for the staff to enjoy at lunchtime and many of them refer to her as ‘Mummy Viggi’!
Panda and Giraffe Rooms
Jess has a Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s and Young People’s Workforce and 4 year’s experience of working with children. Jess has successfully completed the first year of a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood and in her spare time she plays the guitar. She said, ‘I love working with children and helping them grow and develop into young people.’
Sophie started as a member of bank staff at Windmill in 2012 and worked with us while doing her childcare qualification, which she completed in February 2014. Sophie loves working at Windmill because the staff are lovely and enthusiastic! She currently works with the older children and she enjoys seeing them develop, learn and grow each and every single day.
Megan has been qualified for almost 10 years with a Certificate and a Diploma in Child Care and Education. Megan said, ‘I love working with children because the job is full of smiles, giggles and rewards from such beautiful young characters. I enjoy Windmill because of the supportive team and the homely environment.’ In her spare time, Megan enjoys spending time in her new home, going on long walks, watching movies and baking.
Farzana started at Windmill as a student on a placement while she gained her Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. She loves watching the children grow and gain confidence while playing and learning. She said ‘Knowing you put a smile on the children’s faces makes the job very worthwhile’. In her spare time, Farzana likes to go out with her friends.
Beth has recently joined our team having previously worked here during the holiday periods from her studies at University. She now has an Early Childhood Studies degree and she’s joined us on a permanent basis. She has a specific interest in children’s emotional well-being and she’s previously been a Guide Leader. The children here have been very friendly and shown her where everything is kept!
Alice is currently studying for a childcare qualification. She has previously worked in another nursery and as an Au Pair in Berlin where she lived for 18 months.
