Nursery Tour
Monkey/Panda Rooms
The Monkey and Panda rooms are home to our youngest children. Monkeys has space for up to 6 babies aged 3 months-2 years, and Pandas has space for 15 toddlers aged between 2-3 years old.
We offer individual care to every child, and believe that by spending time getting to know your routine at home, we can make this first transition into nursery easy for both you and your child.
Each child under 2 years old has a ‘What I have done today’ sheet which is completed by the team on a daily basis, and will give you a complete overview of your child's day.
These rooms will provide your child with a variety of stimulating toys and activities, and most importantly just as much love and care.
Giraffe Rooms
Giraffe room is home to children aged 2 ¾-5 years. Giraffes has space for 33 children. These rooms are designed for children to explore, to discover new experiences, to develop independent skills and to build relationships with each other and with adults.
Our children are always active, and they have the freedom to choose which room they would prefer to play in (Giraffe room, Creative room and Quiet room), as each room offers a different experience.
The children have access to a vast selection of activities and resources that are ordinarily available to self-choose.
Our Garden
We are very fortunate to have access to a large secure outdoor play area. The garden offers children the chance to really explore the outdoors with various areas for digging, creativity, growing/gardening, large outdoor play equipment, bikes, and balls.
We go out into the garden on a daily basis, regardless of the weather, with umbrellas and waterproofs available for particularly rainy days to ensure children access the outdoors in all seasons.
The garden has some delightful purpose built shaded areas which provide the ideal place for the children to have an afternoon picnic tea on sunny days.
Windmill Day Nursery is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity. It is run through a unique partnership between the professional staff and parents.
We pride ourselves in ensuring all children are able to access an inclusive, supportive and caring environment. Our SENCo, Georgia, is particularly passionate in supporting additional needs and will form part of your support network from the very beginning to ensure your child reaches their full potential. As a team, our years of experience supporting a variety of needs enables us to cater to every single child to support them as an individual and make an impact.
Windmill Day Nursery is a not-for-profit organisation!
As a registered charity, Windmill Day Nursery is a not-for-profit organisation meaning that every penny earned is invested back into the nursery. This enables us to offer competitive fee rates, and it means that every financial decision that is made, is made because it is best for the children.
The Windmill Day Nursery is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (charity number: 281653). Click here for further information on the Charity Commission and how it regulates charities.
A management committee is elected annually at the AGM held every March. A majority of members have to be parents with children still at the nursery. All parents have the opportunity to either stand for election or nominate other members. This means that parents have a direct means of influencing the development of the nursery and the care and facilities it provides.
The committee is a vital part of the nursery, who support the staff and provide input regarding what we would like to see as parents, for example, we organised for a wall to be removed to make our Panda room a much larger space so it provides the children with more opportunities to explore and develop. The refurbishment included new flooring in all the playrooms and new blinds in each of the rooms to keep the sun’s glare at bay.
Our role is best described as a combination of a PTA and the Governors for schools as we also fundraise throughout the year, organising family fun days, raffles and many other activities which raise well used funds and provide enjoyable events for our hard working parents.
